HaNa Steel maintains efficient production and business operations during the pandemic.

Despite the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, HaNa  Steel Joint Stock Company has maintained stable production and business operations. In the first six months of the year, HaNa  Steel Joint Stock Company contributed 438 billion VND to the state budget, an increase of 14.6% compared to the same period in 2020, with corporate income tax alone reaching nearly 300 billion VND. On the occasion of HaNa  Steel’s 14th anniversary (August 17, 2007 – August 17, 2021), HPG News had an interview with Mr. Do Duc Don, Deputy Director of the Company.

Could you please tell us about the production results of HaNa  Steel Company in the first seven months of the year?

As of the end of July 2021, the Company’s steel billet production was nearly 1.3 million tons, reaching 63.6% of the annual plan. Finished steel production reached 1.18 million tons, completing 57.7% of the annual plan and increasing by 24.3% compared to the same period last year.

What are the production targets of HaNa  Steel Complex for 2021?

In 2021, HaNa  Steel aims to achieve over 2 million tons of billets, and a similar target for finished steel products.

To achieve this goal, what plans and solutions has the company implemented?

The company has developed a plan for major repairs and additional investments to create a detailed production plan for each month and quarter. Based on this, plans for purchasing raw materials, supplies, and preparing the workforce to meet requirements have been made.

Given the ongoing complexities of the Covid-19 pandemic, HaNa Steel is currently implementing numerous measures to ensure the health of its employees. When all employees are safe and healthy, we can maintain stable production and fulfill the production and business targets assigned by the Group.

Could you please elaborate on the measures the company is currently implementing to prevent the spread of the disease?

The complex has the advantage of a large area, and the production workshops are not in enclosed spaces, with separate production lines. We will utilize this advantage to ensure the 5K (Safety, Safety, and Health) guidelines for employees.

The company’s Board of Directors is very concerned, determined, and resolute in its efforts to prevent the spread of the disease during this period. This means ensuring both disease prevention and safe production. Therefore, the disease prevention measures closely follow the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health, regulations, and directives from all levels and sectors, but need to be one step ahead and faster.

In particular, the fundamental long-term measure remains ensuring social distancing: departments spaced apart from departments, workshops spaced apart from workshops, and individuals spaced apart from individuals. Simultaneously, expedite the first dose of the vaccine for all employees in the company.

Maintain a Zalo group for each production team, led by the team leader or a member of the Covid Safety Team. Every day at the end of the workday, each individual must self-declare their contact history with colleagues during their time at the factory. Those without smartphones must declare their contact history on paper. Maintain weekly epidemiological reporting throughout the week, regardless of whether they are at the factory, at home, or traveling to other locations.

Departments/factories should proactively plan production adjustments, prepare accommodation, minimum living conditions, and necessary supplies to be ready to implement the “three on-site” plan (eating on-site, resting on-site, and working on-site); Allocate meal times and areas for each department at each canteen. Restoring the use of magnetic cards for employee mealtime tracking to control employee mealtimes and ensure social distancing…

For customers and contractors entering the gate or office area, epidemiological declarations are required using two methods: scanning a QR code or filling out a hard copy at the gate to record the time and date of arrival.

HaNa  Steel always maintains a vibrant innovation and improvement movement. How has this activity contributed to promoting production development?

To best utilize the capabilities of each employee, the company always identifies people as the central factor in management, production, and business. The company’s leadership always encourages and motivates employees to fully develop their creative abilities. Therefore, the innovation and improvement movement in departments and factories is extremely vibrant every year. As a result, HaNa  Steel generates dozens of innovations annually, benefiting the company by tens of billions of VND each year.

The movement to promote technical innovation and improvement is maintained annually. Twice a year, the technical innovation and improvement council meets to review and evaluate the applications submitted by departments and factories within the company.

In the first six months of 2021, the company had 9 innovative improvements, with a total estimated economic benefit of approximately 14.1 billion VND. In addition, there were several initiatives that brought about positive results in terms of environmental protection and occupational safety.

Every year, the company usually organizes men’s and women’s football tournaments and tennis tournaments to celebrate its anniversary. Can you reveal how the company will celebrate its anniversary while implementing social distancing measures due to the pandemic?

Every year, the company plans to organize 3 tennis tournaments, 1 men’s football tournament, and 1 women’s football tournament, with the men’s/women’s football tournament and the tennis tournament celebrating the company’s founding anniversary being the most important. However, due to the pandemic this year, the planned event has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a more suitable time.
